srAI-BEMS: Revolutionizing Building Energy Management with AI for Enhanced SRI and Sustainability
The srAI-BEMS initiative, led by Plegma Labs, is a groundbreaking project and a recipient of the first Sustain EuroCluster Open Call. This project tackles the limitations of traditional Building Energy Management Systems (BEMS), which often fall short in meeting the unique energy optimization needs of diverse building types. To address this, srAI-BEMS integrates the Smart Readiness Indicator (SRI) framework within an AI-enhanced BEMS, offering a robust decision-support tool for energy monitoring and conservation. Through AI-driven services, srAI-BEMS dynamically optimizes energy use, significantly improving the efficiency, adaptability, and sustainability of buildings across residential and industrial environments.
A pivotal accomplishment of srAI-BEMS is its development of a flexible, communication-ready design framework. Utilizing Z-Wave protocols for residential applications and Modbus for industrial contexts, srAI-BEMS ensures high adaptability across a variety of infrastructures. To promote engagement, the project introduced an IoT-enabled, user-friendly interface, providing real-time energy consumption insights. This feature empowers stakeholders with actionable data to proactively manage resources and reduce operational costs.
In addition to energy efficiency, srAI-BEMS sets a new standard in smart building technology by enhancing health, well-being, and sustainability. Advanced AI capabilities, including Non-Intrusive Load Monitoring and HVAC optimization, are embedded to elevate occupant comfort while minimizing energy waste. By aligning with SRI criteria, srAI-BEMS allows building managers to assess and improve their SRI performance, positioning them competitively in a market increasingly driven by sustainability standards. As srAI-BEMS advances, the project is set to offer even deeper insights and solutions, reinforcing smart and sustainable practices in the construction sector.
